Pratap Kishan
Mr. Pratap Kishan read law at University of London and graduated with an LL.B (Honours) in 1996. Upom graduation, he did the Bar Finals Examination and was admitted as a Barrister-at-Law to the Honourable Soceity of the Middle Temple in 1998. He was called to the Singapore Bar in 1999.
Criminal Law
Mr. Kishan has always had a love for the criminal law as he finds that every man charged with a criminal offence should be given a fair hearing and he believes that justice should not only be done but also seen to be done. He has successfully defended clients in criminal trials both in the Subordinate Courts and High Court. He has also assisted in several murder and drug trafficking trials involving the death penalty in the High Court.
Family Law
Mr. Kishan believes that any breakdown in spousal relationship should not result in a breakdown in parental relationship. He strongly advocates that both parents should actively participate in the children's upbringing even after the divorce and children should have a healthy relationship with their fathers and mothers.
Mr. Kishan has represented both husbands and wives in contested divorce proceedings, custody disputes and maintenance disputes between spouses.
Civil & Commercial Litigation
Mr. Kishan also practices a fair proportion of civil and commercial litigation in the Subordinate and Supreme Courts. He handles cases ranging from simple contractual disputes to the complex commercial matters dealing with a wide cross-section of matters relating to companies, directors' disputes, shareholders and the whole gamut of issues involving companies both local and international.
Arbitration & Dispute Resolution
Mr. Kishan is also a strong advocate of arbitration of cases that involve cross-jurisdictional disputes and multi-parties in various jurisdictions. He has handled several matters dealing in both local and international arbitration and also assits in dispute resolution matters witha view for all the parties to benefit from an amicable settlement.
